Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Uko Umoh, has reiterated that education and the acquisition of knowledge remain critical drivers of societal progress and sustainable development.
He stressed that communities and nations that prioritise learning and intellectual growth are better positioned to achieve economic prosperity, social stability, and overall advancement.
Umoh made the remarks while speaking with journalists shortly after he was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by London Bridge Business School (LBBS-UK) in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, the award followed his successful completion of a Global Executive Management Class with the institution, describing the experience as enriching and transformative.
“The award is based on my completion of the Global Executive Management Class with the institution, and I sincerely appreciate the enormous knowledge gathered throughout the duration of the course,” he said.
The council chairman maintained that the exposure and insights gained from the programme would further energise him to effectively pilot the affairs of Etinan Local Government Area and ensure that the council remains a reference point for good governance and administrative excellence.
He emphasised that leadership must be anchored on continuous learning, innovation, and capacity building, noting that education remains the bedrock upon which enduring development is built.
Umoh also highlighted his administration’s commitment to investing in education and youth empowerment, stressing that leaders must adequately equip the younger generation with the right tools and opportunities to secure a better future for Nigeria.
“In Etinan, we have done so much in the area of infrastructural improvement and logistics support in the educational sector, in line with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, and we are eager to do more for the future wellbeing of our children,” he added.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to sustain policies and programmes that will enhance educational standards, promote skills development, and create opportunities for youths to thrive in an increasingly competitive global environment.
