Do not add yourself to tragedy

By Omoruyi Uwuigiaren

Deuteronomy 15:11 says, “For the poor shall never cease out of your land…”

This is not to scare the hell out of you. Even with effortless wealth generation, some individuals will still struggle to afford necessities. Being poor has nothing to do with religion or the size of a man. It has more to do with what you know, which includes skills, education, experience, and how you can bend them to your advantage. If you cannot bend any circumstance to your favour, you have opened the door to poverty. Once opened, requires a battle and a lengthy process to shut the door.

Do not add yourself to this tragedy. Do not make up the numbers. Be different. Be unique. Approach life as if every day were your last. Take your chance and do not mess around with the opportunity before you.

Be intentional. Strive for your future. Be aggressive about your goals and stay the course until you achieve them. Life is complicated. If you do not rise above the waters, you will never make it. You have to go against the current. When the Bible says that the poor shall not cease out of your land, it implies that no matter how hard we try, we cannot have equal opportunity.

Some people will never have enough, and there shall be less privilege. But you can decide not to lack. It is in your power to turn your life around. That is why you must be intentional with your life.

Genesis 1:28 says, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea…”

Take advantage of every situation. If you cannot see anything, you are not going anywhere. You should be able to picture yourself rolling, picture yourself on the big stage, and picture yourself achieving great things. Nothing is more important than the picture you see or the imagination you create about yourself and your future. They play an important role in the making of any individual. Your chances of getting out of poverty are directly tied to the depth of your imagination. If all you see or think about is negative, then you have signed up for what the Bible says, “For the poor shall never cease out of your land.”

Now is the time to think differently. Here are the things you can do:
. Achieve something meaningful before 9 am every day.
· Avoid procrastination.
· Get a regular job while you develop your skills and side hustles.
· Keep your mouth shut! When you lose yourself, you lose everything. Speak sparingly.
