Culture, honour, royal blessings as Nwaebili, Okolie families unite in grand traditional marriage

In a colourful display of culture, honour, and family heritage, the families of Nwaebili of Odekpe Kingdom and Okolie of Nnenato Ebenese Iheoma, Orlu, came together in celebration of the traditional marriage between Hon. Barr. Nonso Henry Nwaebili (Ugobuezennunu) and Chef Chidera Precious Chukwunonyerem Festus Okolie.

The historic ceremony drew the presence of royal fathers, high chiefs, political figures, clergy, and well-wishers from across Nigeria, highlighting the significance of the union between two respected and influential families.

The bride, Precious Dera Okolie, daughter of High Chief Amb. Festus Okolie Udungwo of Nnenato Ebenese Iheoma, Orlu, and Rev. Ambassador Mrs. Zeal Festus Okolie, Founder and President of Excellent Ladies Ministries and Joy to the Widows Foundation, was elegantly adorned in rich traditional attire symbolising dignity, grace, and cultural pride.

As a successful entrepreneur and Founder of Dera Tasty Chow, she represents excellence, industry, and innovation among young Nigerian women.

The groom, Hon. Barr. Nonso Henry Nwaebili, Senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano, and 2023 Labour Party House of Assembly Candidate for Ogbaru Federal Constituency, is widely respected for his service, leadership, and commitment to public development.

He is also the son of Rt. Hon. Princess Chinwe Nwaebili (Esq.) (Ife Ogbaru), former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and former Chairman, South East Conference of Speakers.

The ceremony was conducted under the blessings and presence of respected traditional authorities, including His Royal Majesty, Okey Tony Afuberoh, Traditional Ruler and Regent of Odekpe Kingdom, alongside prominent chiefs such as Chief John Nwaebili (Oduah of Odekpe) and Chief Peter Nwaebili (Odaje Eze of Odekpe), who played key roles in the traditional rites and family formalities.

The traditional marriage rites were performed according to Igbo customs, featuring the presentation of wine, family introductions, exchange of gifts, and symbolic cultural rites affirming the union of both families.

The event showcased rich cultural displays, traditional music, dance performances, and the presentation of kola nuts, symbolising acceptance, unity, and blessings.

Speaking during the ceremony, family elders described the marriage as a union built on love, shared values, strong family heritage, and commitment to societal development.

Clergy present offered prayers for peace, fruitfulness, and prosperity in the new home.

The event further highlighted the importance of preserving African cultural values, family unity, and community respect, while celebrating the achievements and future aspirations of the couple.
