In a bid to transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector, Capacious Farms & Foods Nigeria is embarking on a commercial scale agriculture project.

Speaking with journalists in her office recently, the company, led by Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, Ms. Chi Tola Roberts, said that their aims was to improve livelihoods, produce quality products, and make food affordable.

She said that with over 300 farmers spread across nine states, Capacious Farms is leveraging foreign exports to gain foreign exchange.

“The company is focused on commercial cultivation, partnership, and contract cultivation, utilizing its access to lands in strategic locations.

“To address the challenges faced by farmers, Capacious Farms is providing training and education on best practices, soil management, and crop selection. The company is also partnering with organizations to provide services and products to farmers, empowering them with the right information.

“In addition, Capacious Farms is introducing a farmers’ market to reduce logistics costs and make products more accessible. The company plans to crash food prices in Nigeria by next year, tackling the issue of high prices caused by transportation costs and middlemen.

“Furthermore, Capacious Farms is promoting southern farmers to grow crops typically associated with the northern region, reducing reliance on a single region and saving logistics costs”, she stressed.

Ms. Roberts explained that to address the challenges of bush clearing and irrigation, the company is advocating for manual clearing methods and partnering with companies to provide mechanized farming tractors.

“Capacious Farms is also working on seed sourcing, partnering with universities and research institutes to access quality seeds and promote seed preservation among farmers.

“With its holistic approach to agriculture, Capacious Farms & Foods Nigeria is poised to revolutionize the sector, improve livelihoods, and make food affordable for Nigerians,” she emphasized.
