Bishop Chidi Anthony celebrates DCP Akinbisehin’s excellence in policing, humility

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, DCP Dayo Akinbisehin, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Pentecostal Ministers Forum in recognition of his exceptional professionalism, commitment to crime fighting, and humility in public service.

The award was presented during a colourful ceremony held at the SCID headquarters in Panti, Yaba, where members of the clergy, community stakeholders, and guests gathered to celebrate the senior police officer’s contributions to security and justice in Lagos State.

Presenting the award, the leader of the Pentecostal Ministers Forum, Bishop Dr. Chidi Anthony, described DCP Akinbisehin as a police officer whose dedication, fairness, and compassion have earned him widespread respect among members of the public.

According to the bishop, the honoured officer has consistently demonstrated that effective policing goes beyond enforcing the law, requiring integrity, empathy, and equal treatment of all citizens regardless of their social or economic status.

“Today we are celebrating a man who does not see wealth or poverty but sees humanity,” Bishop Anthony said. “DCP Dayo Akinbisehin has shown that policing can be firm while remaining humane. He listens to complaints, investigates diligently, and ensures justice is served without fear or favour. This is the kind of leadership our nation urgently needs.”

The cleric further commended the DCP’s remarkable efforts in tackling criminal activities, including cultism, fraud, and other security challenges within the jurisdiction of the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Members of the forum noted that under his leadership, numerous criminal cases have been professionally investigated and resolved, while victims and their families have continued to receive fair and unbiased treatment irrespective of their background.

The forum explained that the award was instituted to encourage public servants who distinguish themselves through honesty, professionalism, accountability, and unwavering commitment to national service.

Responding to the honour, DCP Akinbisehin expressed profound appreciation to Bishop Chidi Anthony and members of the Pentecostal Ministers Forum for finding him worthy of the recognition.

He dedicated the award to the officers and personnel of SCID Panti, stressing that every achievement recorded by the department is the result of teamwork, discipline, and dedication to duty.

“I am deeply humbled by this honour,” he said. “Our responsibility is to protect lives and property while ensuring that justice is available to every citizen, irrespective of social status. We shall continue to discharge our responsibilities professionally, uphold the rule of law, and serve the people of Lagos State with the fear of God.”

The senior police officer also underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between law enforcement agencies and religious organisations in tackling crime, youth restiveness, drug abuse, and moral decline.

He observed that faith-based institutions remain strategic partners in promoting ethical values, peaceful coexistence, and responsible citizenship, adding that sustainable security can only be achieved when communities actively support the efforts of the police.

As part of the ceremony, members of the Pentecostal Ministers Forum offered special prayers for DCP Akinbisehin, the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, and for enduring peace and security across Lagos State and the country.

The event concluded with the presentation of the Award of Excellence amid applause from participants, while members of the forum expressed confidence that the honour would inspire the decorated officer to attain even greater heights in his career.

In their closing remarks, the ministers congratulated DCP Akinbisehin, declaring, “The sky will only be your beginning,” while praying for God’s continued guidance, protection, and wisdom as he continues his service to the nation.
