Balogun petitions Orelope-Adefulire, warns against unrest in Egbe-Idimu LCDA

Fresh tension is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho Federal Constituency following allegations of marginalisation and exclusion raised by the Asiwaju Solidarity Movement (ASM) over the ongoing party congress process in Egbe-Idimu.

In a strongly worded position statement issued by the Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Hon. Prince Idris Balogun (Oluomo Kafata), the group accused some leaders of the Justice Forum in Alimosho of attempting to remove duly elected Executive Committee members at both the Local Government Area (LGA) and Ward levels by denying them their legitimate second tenure.

Balogun described the alleged move as “callous, counterproductive, and capable of causing serious unrest,” warning that sidelining loyal party members who stood firm during the party’s struggle could destabilise the political structure in Egbe-Idimu if not urgently addressed.

ASM, a prominent political bloc within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho, was formed to advance and protect the political ideals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to support the Renewed Hope Agenda. According to the statement, the movement was jointly established by two major tendencies—Liberation and Veterans—and any decisions affecting the group must be mutually agreed upon.

The chairman insisted that no faction should be excluded from discussions relating to leadership structure or allocation of political positions within ASM.

Particularly, the statement expressed concern over what it described as recent actions by a leader of the Justice Forum, Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, alleging that a section of the Liberation bloc was being sidelined in the ongoing congress process in Egbe-Idimu.

While reaffirming respect and trust in her leadership, Balogun maintained that failure to carry all stakeholders along could deepen divisions within the party at a critical political period.

“We state clearly that we will not allow this exclusion, and if such actions are left unchecked, they may create unnecessary tension and unrest, which we are determined to prevent,” the statement read.

The group called on party leaders within the Justice Forum, the APC in Lagos State, President Tinubu, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently intervene to ensure fairness, justice and cohesion within the party structure in Alimosho.

Balogun emphasised that the objective of the statement was not to escalate tensions but to prevent a looming crisis that could undermine party unity in the constituency.

Political observers note that Alimosho remains one of the most politically strategic constituencies in Lagos State, making internal cohesion within the ruling party crucial ahead of future electoral cycles.

As the congress process continues, party stakeholders are expected to engage in dialogue to address grievances and forestall any escalation that could threaten the stability of the APC in the area.
