ARISE Agenda: Gov. Eno scores early goal in leadership for 2026

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Bassey Eno, has restated his administration’s firm commitment to completing all ongoing projects before the end of his first term in office.

Governor Eno gave the assurance on Monday, January 12, 2026, while declaring open a two-week Ministerial Briefing at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo.

In his remarks, the Governor said the briefing was convened to re-echo the state’s development priorities and to set a clear agenda for continuous, focused, and effective service delivery in line with his administration’s ARISE Agenda.

He explained that the exercise is designed to ensure early planning and efficient implementation of government programmes, particularly in a year that will combine governance with heightened political activities.

Governor Eno noted that the daily ministerial briefings, scheduled to run from January 12 to January 21, 2026, will feature presentations from members of the Executive Council, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He added that each Commissioner is expected to attend alongside their Permanent Secretary, Delivery Advisers, and other relevant officers.

The Governor urged Council members to fully utilise the platform to render proper accounts of stewardship, including a clear outline of achievements recorded in 2025 and projections for 2026. He stressed that all plans and programmes must align strictly with the ARISE Agenda.

He disclosed that the State currently has over sixty priority projects ongoing outside road construction, with a clear directive that they must be completed before the end of his first term. According to him, no new projects will be approved unless they have direct impact on the people, align with the ARISE Agenda, and fall within available budgetary provisions.

Reflecting on the approaching general election, Governor Eno charged Council members to be ready to present the administration’s report cards to the public, urging them to remain focused, proactive, and disciplined in their assignments.

He also announced that beginning in February, Commissioners will be scheduled for regular media engagements, including monthly press briefings and weekly radio appearances on programmes such as Matters Arising, to enable them to account directly to the people.

Governor Eno cautioned that participation in these media engagements is compulsory, stressing that they form part of official government responsibilities, particularly in an election year.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding its developmental footprint across Akwa Ibom State, assuring citizens that governance under the ARISE Agenda will remain people-centred, accountable, and result-driven.
