Anambra Police Command promotes over 300 officers as CP Orutugu leads historic decoration ceremony

Anambra State Police Command has recorded a significant milestone in its history of personnel development and institutional strengthening, following the promotion and decoration of over 300 officers to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the colourful and well-attended decoration ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka, marked one of the largest single promotion exercises witnessed by the Command in recent times.

Decorating the officers, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, fwc mnips PhD, described the elevation as both well-deserved and merit-based.

He commended the newly promoted officers for their dedication, resilience, and consistent commitment to duty, noting that their advancement was a product of hard work, discipline, and professional excellence.

CP Orutugu emphasized that promotion in the Force is not merely a change in rank but an expansion of responsibility.

He charged the officers to rededicate themselves to the ideals of professionalism, accountability, and service to humanity.

According to him, the new rank demands higher standards of conduct, improved leadership capacity, and unwavering loyalty to the Constitution and the people of Anambra State.

“Promotion comes with greater expectations,” the Commissioner stated.

“You must uphold the core values of the Force, maintain integrity in all your engagements, and continue to build public trust through responsible policing.”

He further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency through the recognition of excellence and institutional support for career progression.

He noted that the large-scale promotion reflects ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at strengthening internal capacity, improving welfare, and motivating officers for optimal service delivery.

In his vote of thanks, Assistant Superintendent of Police Eyam Osim, who spoke on behalf of the newly decorated officers, expressed deep appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force leadership hierarchy, including the Inspector-General of Police, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, the Command Management Team, and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of the promotion.

He assured that the newly promoted officers would justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating greater dedication, improved operational performance, and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
