AIST announces 2023 steel intern scholars

Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) has announced the recipients of the 2023 AIST Foundation Steel Intern Scholarships.

Forty-three recipients were selected this year and subsequently placed in internships within the steel industry.

According to a statement from the organisation, “This is a tremendous program and a great opportunity for students and steel companies alike. Last year we had a record number of applicants that drove a record number of 44 scholarships awarded. I hope to see even more this year as the AIST Foundation has set a goal of awarding 50 scholarships,” said Chuck Greene of AM/NS Calvert LLC, who serves as chair of the AIST Foundation Steel Intern Scholarship Committee.

The AIST Foundation is a Pennsylvania-based 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation organized for charitable, education and scientific purposes to attract technology-oriented professionals to the steel industry by educating the public about the high-tech, diverse and rewarding nature of careers in steel manufacturing. Through a variety of programs, the AIST Foundation awards more than US$750,000 annually in programs and grants to students, instructors and schools to ensure the iron and steel industry of tomorrow will have a sufficient number of qualified professionals.
