AIG Akpanudom seeks stronger collaboration with Lagos Security Trust Fund

Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, has strengthened its partnership with the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) following a courtesy visit by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the FCID Annex, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, aimed at enhancing security collaboration and improving criminal investigation efforts across Lagos State.

Leading members of his management team, AIG Akpanudom visited the LSSTF headquarters to foster closer cooperation between both institutions in line with ongoing efforts to improve public safety and crime-fighting in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

Receiving the delegation, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, congratulated AIG Akpanudom on his recent appointment and commended his dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the Nigeria Police Force.

Dr. Ogunsan reaffirmed the Trust Fund’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies operating in Lagos State through strategic interventions, logistics, and capacity-building initiatives.

As part of the visit, the LSSTF donated 50 bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to the FCID Annex, Lagos, to strengthen the safety and operational effectiveness of detectives engaged in criminal investigations and law enforcement duties.

The Executive Secretary also assured the FCID leadership of the Trust Fund’s continued support, noting that improved logistics and protective equipment would enhance operational efficiency and contribute significantly to maintaining peace and security across Lagos State.

Speaking during the visit, AIG Akpanudom expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force. He also thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji R. Disu, for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the FCID Annex, Lagos.

The AIG praised the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for its consistent support to the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the specialised training programmes organised for FCID detectives, describing them as instrumental in improving investigative capacity, professionalism, and service delivery.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the FCID Annex to advancing the Inspector-General of Police’s people-centred policing agenda by strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders, government agencies, and the private sector to improve security outcomes.

According to him, sustained collaboration between security institutions and organisations such as the LSSTF remains essential in tackling emerging security challenges and ensuring effective criminal investigations in Lagos State.

The courtesy visit concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque to Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan in recognition of the enduring partnership between the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Lagos.

The gesture symbolised the shared commitment of both organisations to strengthening security architecture, enhancing justice delivery, and ensuring the safety of residents and businesses in Lagos State.

The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and security support organisations in building a safer and more secure Lagos, while reinforcing ongoing efforts to improve policing standards and public confidence in the criminal justice system.
