AGN bags prestigious award at unveiling of The Compatriots Newspaper in Lagos

Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has been honoured with a special recognition award during the grand unveiling of The Compatriots Newspaper held at the NERDC Conference Centre.

The colourful ceremony, which took place in Lagos, brought together dignitaries, media practitioners, entertainers, and stakeholders from various sectors who gathered to witness the official launch of the new publication and celebrate excellence in journalism and entertainment.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, was well represented at the event by its executives and members who attended in solidarity with the publisher and organisers of the newspaper.

Leading the delegation was the Acting Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter, High Chief Funmilayo Ikubuwaye Mary Edward, accompanied by the Guild’s Public Relations Officer, Ambassador Cornell Udofia, alongside other key executives of the chapter.

Other notable members of the guild present at the occasion included Emmanuel Onyika, popularly known as MC Senator, who serves as the Director of Guild Services; Prince Tunde Shado, the Financial Secretary; and High Chief Oby Express, among other members of the guild who came out to support the historic media event.

The award presented to the Actors Guild of Nigeria was in recognition of the guild’s outstanding contributions to the growth and global recognition of Nigeria’s vibrant film industry, widely known as Nollywood. The honour also acknowledged the organisation’s continued commitment to promoting professionalism, creativity, and cultural development within the entertainment sector.

Speaking during the event, members of the guild expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, noting that such honours serve as encouragement for stakeholders in the entertainment industry to remain committed to excellence and to continue using the creative arts as a tool for national development.

According to them, the recognition further strengthens the resolve of the guild to uphold high standards in acting, filmmaking, and talent development while contributing positively to the growth of the Nigerian creative economy.

The unveiling ceremony of The Compatriots Newspaper also attracted several prominent personalities from the media and corporate sectors who commended the publisher, Mr. Joshua Uloko, for the initiative and his commitment to strengthening responsible and development-focused journalism in Nigeria.
