AFAN BOT Chairman tasks Farouk Mudi-Led executive to fight hunger, create jobs

Board of Trustees Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Rtd Admiral Murtala Nyako, has charged Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi-led executives to save the nation from its present state of destitution and poverty.

He urged them to introduce new reforms that would improve the lives of Nigerians.

This charge was made shortly after the report of the Federal Court of Appeal that gave victory to Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi in Abuja.

Nyako expressed delight over the ruling, describing the judgment as a victory for Nigerian farmers after a prolonged legal process spanning over four years.

Recall that recently, the Court of Appeal had on July 17 delivered a landmark judgment in a suit filed by Arch Kabir Ibrahim and his led dissolved National Working Committee (NWC) and National Executive Committee (NEC) of AFAN against the Incorporated Trustees of AFAN and Dr Farouk Rabiu Mudi, challenging both parties on the ground of misconduct.

The court in its jurisdiction dismissed the case for lacking in merit, affirming Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi as the authentic President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, having satisfied all the processes involved that led to his election as the President of the Association.

Nyako, however, hailing the victory, charged all the executive council members across the 774 local government areas of the country to support Dr. Mudi’s leadership to save the nation from the present economic hardship.

In response, Dr. Mudi promised to run an all-inclusive government, stating that “the storm is over, AFAN shall do all within its jurisdiction to crash commodity prices, provide subsidised farm inputs, create jobs, and help reduce unemployment by at least 30 percent within the next twelve months.

Dr. Mudi used the occasion to brief the BOT Chairman on certain reforms the executives are embarking upon, including going fully into mechanized farming, loans and facilities to genuine farmers and conversations with critical stakeholders in the agricultural value chain to address rising costs of fertilizer and insecurity that has affected farmers nationwide.
