Adamu’s governorship bid gains momentum as supporters plan Keffi rally

Michael Olumide

A major political mobilisation is underway in Nasarawa State as supporters of former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, prepare to stage a large-scale solidarity rally in Keffi in furtherance of his reported governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The rally, organised by the Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Support Group Organisation (MAASGO), is scheduled to hold on Monday and is expected to draw supporters from across the state and beyond.

Tagged “Mega Rally in Keffi for Ex-IGP M. A. Adamu Mandate for Governor 2027 Nasarawa State,” the event is designed to galvanise grassroots backing and formally present Adamu’s candidacy to the wider public.

According to the programme itinerary, participants will converge at the gate of Nasarawa State University in Keffi, which will serve as the take-off point for the rally procession. From there, supporters are expected to move through key parts of the metropolis, turning the event into a show of political strength and visibility.

Organisers say the rally represents more than just a gathering of loyalists; it is a strategic effort to build momentum around Adamu’s candidacy and position him as a formidable contender in the 2027 governorship race in Nasarawa State.

Speaking ahead of the event, a prominent member of the support group, Awal Nurain, described the former police chief as a tested leader with a distinguished record in public service.

He noted that Adamu’s rise through the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force to the position of Inspector General underscores his leadership capacity and administrative experience.

“I’m more than convinced that retired IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has what it takes to lead Nasarawa State as governor,” Nurain said. “If we go by his track record in public service, his achievements in the police force, and his ability to manage complex national responsibilities, then it is clear he possesses the qualities required for effective governance.”

He added that members of MAASGO are fully committed to mobilising support across communities, stressing that the people of Nasarawa State stand to benefit from Adamu’s leadership style, which he described as disciplined, inclusive, and results-driven.

The planned rally is expected to signal the early build-up to what could become a highly competitive political season in the state, with stakeholders and political observers already watching developments closely as the countdown to 2027 gradually begins.

For many supporters, Monday’s gathering in Keffi is not just about endorsement—it is about setting the tone for a sustained campaign that could reshape the political landscape of Nasarawa State in the years ahead.
