Abundance Movement member urges Idimogu to contest House of Reps seat in 2027

A member of the Abundance Movement, Dr. Cashier Asomugha Ekekwe, has called on former Lagos State lawmaker, Honourable Jude Chukwuemeka Omobowale Idimogu, to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II in the 2027 general elections.
Ekekwe made the appeal while interacting with journalists in Lagos, where he described Idimogu as an intelligent and astute politician who has demonstrated strong leadership and legislative capacity.
According to him, Idimogu made significant contributions during his tenure as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he served two terms in the 8th and 9th Assemblies.
He noted that the former lawmaker sponsored and supported several motions and bills while serving in the Assembly, many of which were successfully passed into law.
“Honourable Idimogu is an intelligent and astute politician who understands the dynamics of politics and governance.
During his time in the Lagos State House of Assembly, he distinguished himself through effective representation and legislative initiatives that benefited his constituency,” Ekekwe said.
He added that after serving two terms at the state level, it was only natural for the former lawmaker to seek a higher political office in order to continue contributing to national development.
“As the popular saying goes, he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day. I can say that Hon. Jude Idimogu is currently on a political sabbatical. Having served two terms in the same position in the Lagos Assembly, it is only proper for him to move up to a higher responsibility,” he said.
Ekekwe further explained that during his tenure in the Assembly, Idimogu served as Chairman of the House Committee on Commerce and Industry and demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to legislative duties.
He maintained that the former legislator has grown tremendously in politics and governance, adding that he possesses the experience and competence required to represent Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II at the National Assembly.
“As a two-term legislator, though at the state level, Honourable Jude Idimogu is not a novice in legislative matters. He radiates leadership, candour and reliability. He is a man who maintains close contact with his constituents and is never far from his people,” Ekekwe stated.
He also commended Idimogu’s empowerment initiatives, noting that the former lawmaker had consistently supported widows, youths and the less privileged through various programmes.
According to him, Idimogu’s accessibility and willingness to listen to people across different social classes have endeared him to many residents of the constituency.
Ekekwe further described Idimogu as a bridge between ethnic groups within the constituency, noting that his marriage to Lolo Roseline Idimogu, a Yoruba woman, has strengthened his relationship with both Igbo and Yoruba communities.
“With his wife being a daughter of the soil, Idimogu can be said to be partly Igbo and partly Yoruba. He understands the people very well and has built strong relationships across ethnic lines, including with non-indigenes living in the constituency,” he said.
He also recalled that the political movement that eventually supported the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was initiated by Idimogu through the Abundance Movement, which he established around 2019 and 2020.
According to Ekekwe, the movement played a role in mobilizing support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
“The campaign that produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president was largely inspired by the Abundance Movement initiated by Honourable Jude Idimogu. It encouraged many Nigerians to support his presidential ambition,” he said.
Ekekwe therefore urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider giving Idimogu the party’s ticket for the Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency II seat in the 2027 elections.
He expressed confidence that if given the opportunity, Idimogu would emerge victorious at the polls due to his political acceptability and strong grassroots support.
“Once the APC gives him the ticket, victory at the general election will almost be certain because he is widely accepted across the constituency. He is a tested and trusted politician with an impeccable political pedigree,” Ekekwe said.
He added that the seat is currently held by a member of another political party, stressing that the APC needs a credible and experienced candidate to reclaim the constituency.
According to him, Idimogu remains the most suitable candidate to lead the party’s efforts to win back the seat in the 2027 elections.
