Key economic regulators, business leaders, investors and market operators are set to converge in Lagos for the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP), with discussions expected to focus on practical pathways towards Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy target.
The two-day event is scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2026, at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, under the theme: “Unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential: Taxation, industry, insurance, fintech, trade and investment as catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 trillion vision.”
Among institutions that have confirmed participation are the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group).
The conference is expected to provide a platform for policymakers, regulators, private-sector operators, investors and media professionals to examine issues affecting Nigeria’s economic growth, investment climate and business environment.
The participation of the NRS, NCS and SEC is expected to bring regulatory perspectives to discussions on taxation, revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, capital formation and investment.
The Nigerian Insurers Association is expected to highlight the role of insurance in protecting businesses, mobilising long-term funds and supporting economic expansion, while the NCC will provide perspectives on digital connectivity, telecommunications and the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.
The conference will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr. Muda Yusuf, who is expected to provide private-sector and economic policy perspectives during the discussions.
Also expected at the event is the Chairman of NGX Group, Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, who will participate in conversations around capital-market development, investment mobilisation, market liquidity and mechanisms for supporting business expansion.
Other confirmed participants include the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama.
The conference is also expected to attract representatives of banks, insurance companies, fintech firms, trade associations, investment institutions and other players across the Nigerian economy.
According to the Chairman of the FiBOP Conference Organising Committee, Barnabas Esiet, the two-day programme will feature plenary sessions, interactive discussions and networking opportunities involving policymakers, regulators, investors, businesses and the media.
Esiet said the conference would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to move beyond discussions about Nigeria’s economic potential and examine practical measures capable of strengthening investment, production, trade and economic competitiveness.
A major attraction of the programme will be the FiBOP Awards, which will recognise individuals and institutions for their contributions to economic development, financial innovation and business growth.
The National President of FiBOP, Mr. Charles Onwuatogwu, commended the institutions and stakeholders that have confirmed their participation, describing their involvement as important to sustaining dialogue between the public sector, private sector and the media.
Onwuatogwu called for broader stakeholder participation, stressing that achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economic ambition would require collaboration across sectors, supported by concrete policies, investments and institutional partnerships.
He said the conference would seek to strengthen the conversation around how Nigeria can unlock its economic potential and create an environment capable of supporting sustainable business growth and investment.
The FiBOP 2026 Annual Conference and Awards is expected to bring together major voices from the financial, regulatory, telecommunications, insurance, capital-market, trade and technology sectors for two days of discussions, networking and recognition.
