Methodist Men’s Fellowship opens NECO meeting in Lagos Thursday

Methodist Men’s Fellowship of the Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN) will hold its final National Executive Committee Officers’ (NECO) meeting for 2026 from Thursday, September 17, to Sunday, September 20, in Lagos.

The four-day meeting will be hosted by Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos, the seat of the Lagos Mainland Archdiocese.

In a press statement, the National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sir ’Tunde Babalola, said preparations were at an advanced stage for the meeting.

The President of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship in Lagos Mainland Archdiocese, Bro. Yemi Dada also assured participants that all arrangements were in top gear for the successful hosting of the gathering.

According to Dada, His Grace, The Most Revd Dr Obafemi Bamidele Adeleye, Archbishop of Lagos Mainland, is expected to declare the meeting open on behalf of the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Oliver Aba.

One of the major highlights of the meeting will be the farewell to the Conference Coordinator of Men’s Work in MCN, The Very Revd James A. Adikwu, who was recently elected a Bishop during the 50th Conference of the Church held in Ibadan in August.

The meeting is expected to bid Adikwu farewell in his current capacity as Conference Coordinator of Men’s Work and offer prayers for a successful transition into his new episcopal ministry.

Members of the National Executive Council of the Fellowship, as well as Presidents, Coordinators and Secretaries of the various Zonal, Regional and Archdiocesan structures across the Conference Area, are expected to participate in the meeting.

The NECO meeting will deliberate on the progress of God’s work among men in the Methodist Church Nigeria, as well as matters concerning the growth and effectiveness of the Men’s Fellowship.

The National President of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship, Sir Dr Kehinde Oladeji KJW, will chair the meeting, with the support of the Conference Coordinator of Men’s Work and Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Apa, Benue State, The Very Revd James A. Adikwu, and the National Deputy President, Evangelist Dr Emmanuel Oche.

The gathering is expected to bring together key leaders of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship to review the activities of the year and chart the way forward for the ministry among men in the Church.
