Ibom Air, Akwa Ibom Government commended as pupils enjoy memorable airport excursion

Pupils of Solsito Global Kingdom Stars School in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State had an unforgettable educational experience on Thursday, June 18, 2026, when they visited Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, as part of the school’s extracurricular activities.

The excursion, designed to expose the young learners to real-life airport operations, left the children thrilled and inspired as they toured various sections of the airport under the guidance of airport instructor, Mr. Paulinus Ekpo.

The pupils were taken through the departure hall, waiting lounge, airside and arrival hall, where they had the opportunity to observe the day-to-day activities that take place within an international airport.

They also experienced the use of modern airport facilities, including elevators and lifts, making the outing both educational and exciting.

One of the memorable moments of the excursion was the pupils’ encounter with a notable son of Akwa Ibom State, Arc. Nya-Etok, who had just arrived on a flight that afternoon.

Delighted by the presence of the children, he spent time interacting with them, celebrating their curiosity and enthusiasm before presenting financial gifts to each of the pupils.

Mr. Ekpo expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the pupils, commending them for their intelligence, eagerness to learn and the relevant questions they asked throughout the excursion.

The highlight of the day came at exactly 12:27 p.m. when an aircraft was announced to be arriving at the airport.

The pupils waited in anticipation and were visibly excited as they witnessed the aircraft land and later take off from the runway. For many of them, it was their first time seeing an aircraft physically and observing airport operations at close range.

The experience was particularly significant considering that many adults did not have such opportunities during their childhood. The excursion offered the pupils a rare chance to bridge classroom learning with practical experience, giving life to what they had only previously seen in textbooks.

Throughout the visit, the children attracted admiration from airport passengers, including both Nigerians and foreigners, some of whom requested photographs with the pupils.

The educational outing also excited members of staff who accompanied the pupils, while parents eagerly awaited their return to hear first-hand accounts of the memorable experience.

School authorities disclosed that Solsito Global Kingdom Stars School is only the second school to undertake an excursion to the airport since Ibom Air commenced operations from the New International Airport Terminal on June 14, 2026.

The management of the school expressed profound appreciation to Ibom Air and the Akwa Ibom State Government for granting the pupils the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of airport operations.

According to the school, the excursion significantly enhanced the pupils’ understanding of aviation and broadened their horizons by exposing them to opportunities within the aviation industry.
