NIPR Lagos, LCCI partner to boost capacity building, strategic communication

Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State Chapter, has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) aimed at promoting professional development, ethical communication and capacity building within Nigeria’s organised private sector.

According to the Public Relations Officer, NIPR, Dr. Oguchukwu Okeke, the partnership framework was established during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the NIPR Lagos Chapter, led by its Chairman, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, to the President and Chairman of Council of the LCCI, Engr. Leye Kupoluyi, in Lagos.

The collaboration is expected to focus on the organisation of specialised training programmes, workshops and professional engagements designed to strengthen communication competencies among entrepreneurs, corporate executives, business leaders and communication professionals across different sectors of the economy.

Speaking during the engagement, Engr. Kupoluyi reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strategic partnerships capable of enhancing the competitiveness, sustainability and growth of businesses operating in Nigeria.

According to him, effective public relations and strategic communication have become indispensable tools for promoting trade, attracting investment opportunities, building stakeholder trust and sustaining strong corporate reputations in an increasingly dynamic business environment.

He noted that stronger collaboration between the organised private sector and professional communication bodies would further position Nigerian businesses for greater relevance and global competitiveness.

Also speaking, the Chairman of NIPR Lagos State Chapter, Dr. Ayetutu, described communication as a strategic asset essential for organisational growth and long-term sustainability.

He stated that communication had evolved beyond a peripheral corporate function to become a major driver of business growth, reputation management and stakeholder engagement.

“Effective communication is no longer a peripheral function, but a critical driver of business growth, reputation management and stakeholder engagement in today’s dynamic economic landscape. By synergising the expertise of public relations professionals with the robust network of the organised private sector, we are actively equipping businesses with the strategic communication tools necessary to navigate complex markets, build enduring trust and attract sustainable investments,” Ayetutu stated.

The meeting also featured discussions on future collaborative initiatives targeted at promoting ethical communication standards, strengthening institutional relationships and deepening knowledge-sharing between communication professionals and the business community.

Members of the NIPR Lagos delegation at the meeting included the General Secretary, Mr. Samuel O. Adeyemi; Treasurer, Mr. Bamiji Adeleye; and Assistant General Secretary and IT Officer, Mrs. Rita Ali-Nock.

Representatives of the LCCI present during the engagement included Mr. Sunday Osanyintuyi, Mrs. Abosede Okeyemi and Yeye Shobanjo.

Observers say the partnership marks another significant milestone in the efforts of the NIPR Lagos State Chapter to foster strategic alliances capable of advancing professional excellence, economic development and impactful communication practice in Nigeria.
