“A new dawn is near,” Tinubu tells Nigerians in Easter message

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for unity, sacrifice, and renewed hope among Nigerians, assuring citizens that ongoing economic reforms and security efforts will ultimately yield prosperity and lasting peace.

He extended warm Easter greetings to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, urging citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, resilience, and unity as the country navigates its current socio-economic and security challenges.

In his 2026 Easter message released by the State House on Friday, the President reflected on the spiritual significance of the season, noting that Easter commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolising redemption and hope for humanity.

He said the message of Easter, marked by sacrifice and the triumph of light over darkness, resonates deeply with Nigeria’s present realities, as the nation continues to grapple with economic hardship and security concerns.

President Tinubu acknowledged that despite the concerted efforts of his administration and the sacrifices of the Armed Forces, security challenges persist in parts of the country.

He, however, assured Nigerians that decisive steps are being taken to confront terrorism and banditry.

According to him, the government has continued to allocate resources and strengthen international collaborations aimed at enhancing the capacity of security agencies to combat threats effectively.

The President also referenced his recent visit to Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims of violence and reassured residents of the federal government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability.

He added that security chiefs have provided strong assurances of progress, with additional support being sought from international partners.

While expressing optimism about improvements in the security landscape, Tinubu emphasized the importance of national unity, stressing that no country can achieve meaningful progress in an atmosphere of fear and instability.

He called on Nigerians to support lawful efforts by security agencies, promote peaceful coexistence, and reject divisive forces that threaten the nation’s collective well-being.

On the economy, the President defended his administration’s ongoing reforms, acknowledging their immediate challenges but insisting they are necessary steps toward long-term prosperity.

“The ongoing reforms, though demanding in their immediate impact, have been carefully put together and backed by a strong commitment to take us to shared prosperity,” he said, reiterating that enduring transformation often requires sacrifice.

Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, Tinubu urged political actors and citizens to uphold democratic values and adhere strictly to the Electoral Act.

He stressed the need for responsible conduct, peaceful participation, and informed decision-making to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

“Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail,” he noted.
The President further expressed confidence that, despite current economic pressures, key indicators suggest the country is on the right path, assuring Nigerians that “a new dawn is on the horizon.”

He commended citizens for their continued support and trust in his administration, pledging to remain committed to delivering a more secure, prosperous, and united Nigeria.

Tinubu concluded his message by encouraging Nigerians to keep faith, contribute positively to national development, and remain steadfast in the collective pursuit of a better future.
