President Tinubu orders crackdown on perpetrators of Jos, Kaduna attacks

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent wave of violent attacks in Plateau and Kaduna states, describing the incidents as barbaric, cowardly, and a grave affront to Nigeria’s collective values.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed outrage over the killings carried out by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, Plateau State, as well as the attack in Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and abducted.

President Tinubu said the perpetrators, who carried out the attacks under the cover of darkness, demonstrated utter disregard for human life, stressing that such acts of violence would not go unpunished.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” the President said, adding that the attacks on soft targets were intended not only to inflict harm but also to incite reprisals and escalate violence.

The President has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the attacks, as well as individuals spreading misinformation capable of inflaming tensions.

He cautioned against narratives suggesting religious motivations for the violence, warning that such claims could worsen the situation.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, Tinubu emphasized that security agencies are actively addressing the crisis and called for greater public cooperation. He urged residents to comply with evacuation and relocation advisories where necessary to safeguard lives and property.

The President also called for improved intelligence gathering and proactive measures by security agencies to prevent future attacks.

He specifically ordered the immediate rescue of all remaining abductees from Kahir village, while commending the safe return of two victims.

President Tinubu further praised the efforts of Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their roles in managing the crises in their respective states.

“I commend Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for his efforts in containing the situation in Jos and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for supporting the rescue and containment efforts,” he stated.

The President assured both state governments of continued federal support, noting that his administration is investing in advanced security equipment to enable real-time tracking and neutralization of criminal elements across the country.

He also extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, reiterating his government’s resolve to ensure justice is served and peace restored.
