Pope Francis’ legacy transcends denominational lines, says Bishop Chidi Anthony

President of the Pentecostal Ministers Forum of Nigeria (PMF), Bishop Chidi Anthony, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Pope Francis, describing him as a “global symbol of peace, unity, and unwavering faith”.

In a solemn statement, Bishop Anthony extended condolences to the Catholic Church worldwide, noting that the Pope’s death is a loss not only to Catholics but also to the global Christian body and humanity.

” Pope Francis was known for fostering interfaith dialogue and global peace, easing decades of suspicion and theological tension between Catholic and Pentecostal movements. He chose to live simply, shunning excessive opulence often associated with high religious office, inspiring many across denominational lines.

“His messages spoke to the heart of all Christians, regardless of doctrinal differences, promoting unity and love”, he said.

Bishop Anthony emphasized the need for unity among Christians in moments of grief and reflection, urging the Church to demonstrate love and mutual respect.

“Now more than ever, we must remember that we are one in Christ,” he said.

He encouraged the Catholic faithful to take solace in the enduring impact of Pope Francis’ spiritual and moral leadership, noting that his legacy will continue to inspire generations of believers.
