YALI Network Lagos champions environmental sustainability in Alimosho council


As part of efforts in commemoration of World Cleanup Day 2025, YALI Network Lagos organized a community clean-up exercise at Akesan, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The event, themed āEco-Action: Our City, Our Responsibility,ā brought together volunteers, community members, and young leaders in a united effort to make the environment healthier, safer, and more beautiful.
According to the Coordinator, YALI Network Lagos, Ojo Semasa Odunayo, the exercise, which began at the Beta Day meeting point, saw participants clearing refuse, desilting drains, and properly disposing of waste to raise awareness on sustainable environmental practices.
Volunteers, including youths, parents, and children, worked hand-in-hand to demonstrate the power of community responsibility in addressing environmental challenges.
The Coordinator of YALI Network Lagos emphasized the importance of collective action: āWorld Cleanup Day is a reminder that keeping our environment clean is a shared responsibility. Through initiatives like this, we are not only cleaning our streets but also inspiring a culture of environmental stewardship and civic duty in our communities.ā
The project aligned with YALI Network Lagosā mission to drive positive change through youth-led initiatives, civic engagement, and leadership development.
By participating in the global movement, it reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development and grassroots action in Nigeria.
World Cleanup Day is celebrated annually in over 190 countries, mobilizing millions of volunteers to tackle waste pollution and promote a cleaner, greener planet.
