XI Jinping Chinese President to visit Russia on May 7 to 10 to celebrate 80th WW2 victory anniversary

‎According to the press statement by the Kremlin, it has been duly stated that on May 7–10, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin and attend the formal celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

‎The bilateral talks to be held during the visit will focus on the core aspects of further advancement of Russia-China relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation, as well as pressing matters on the international and regional agendas.

‎Additionally, the two leaders are to sign several bilateral inter-governmental and inter-departmental documents.
‎
‎This comes at a time of heightened tension between the US and China in a trade war and such never seen since the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union between 1949 and 1991. Russia currently has its hands full with the military intervention in Ukraine and facing a new US administration led by Donald Trump who is actively trying to bring about a ceasefire and end to hostilities Ukrainian President Voladomir Zelensky has in a statement on May 2 proclaimed that the security of world leaders looking to attend the victory day parade in Moscow on May 9 is not guaranteed which indicates a military plan which might involve strikes deep into Russia.

Other notable world leaders and heads of state are also expected to attend the event marking a significant milestone in Russian history.
