Wesley University Ondo, VC applauds ODIRS for strengthening taxpayer relations in Ondo

Vice Chancellor of Wesley University, Ondo, Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka has commended the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) for strengthening taxpayer relations and fostering a supportive environment that has helped institutions and businesses in the state meet their tax obligations with greater understanding and cooperation.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university and the revenue agency, as well as appreciating the agency’s leadership and support for the institution.

Prof. Obeka was accompanied by top officials of the university, including Prof. Barr. Feyi Akingbule, Dr. Olasoji Kolawole and other members of the institution’s management team.

The delegation was received by the ODIRS Executive Chairman alongside members of the agency’s management team, including the Director of Personal Income Tax, Mr. Eniafe Stephen; Assistant Director of Administration, Mr. Makinwa Ayodeji; and the Head of Human Resources, Madam Busayo Akinyosoye.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Obeka said the purpose of the delegation’s visit was to appreciate the leadership of the ODIRS Chairman and acknowledge the remarkable transformation taking place within the agency.

He noted that the leadership style of Mr. Rojugbokan has helped to create a family-like atmosphere within the organization, strengthening the relationship between management and staff and promoting efficiency in the agency’s operations.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the university has closely followed the activities of the revenue agency and has come to recognize ODIRS as a responsive and responsible institution that listens to the concerns of taxpayers across the state.

He explained that the agency’s supportive and cooperative approach has had a positive impact on the university, particularly in helping the institution address financial obligations inherited from previous administrations.

Prof. Obeka disclosed that upon assuming office, the university inherited significant liabilities. However, through collaboration and understanding with the revenue agency, the institution has been able to settle a substantial portion of the outstanding debts.

He added that the progress made so far has enabled the university to reposition itself and focus on expanding its academic offerings, including the introduction of new programmes aimed at improving educational opportunities for students.

On behalf of the Governing Council of Wesley University, the Vice Chancellor expressed deep appreciation to the management and staff of ODIRS for maintaining a cordial and supportive relationship with the institution over the years.

He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustaining the partnership and working closely with the revenue agency in promoting development within Ondo State.

The visit also provided an opportunity for both institutions to further strengthen collaboration and explore areas of cooperation in support of the state’s economic and educational growth.
