Uyo Senatorial District Media Forum elects new leadership, Clement Warrie emerges President

Uyo Senatorial District Media Professionals Forum has elected a new team of executive officers to pilot the affairs of the organisation and provide effective leadership for its members.

The election was announced on Tuesday by the Board of Trustees (BOT)/Governing Council of the Forum following its 35th Enlarged Meeting held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The development followed the expiration of the tenure of the previous Executive Officers, prompting the Board to consider and approve the election of a new leadership team in accordance with the governing provisions of the Forum.

In a statement made available to journalists in Uyo on Tuesday, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees/Governing Council, Venerable Richard Peters, and Chairman of the Board, Comrade Joseph Okon, said the election was aimed at ensuring effective leadership, professional coordination, continuity and responsible administration of the affairs and activities of the Forum.

The Board said the new leadership was expected to build on the achievements of the organisation while promoting unity, professionalism and the collective interests of media practitioners within the Uyo Senatorial District.

According to the statement, Mr. Clement Warrie emerged as the President of the Forum, while Mr. Charles Akpan was elected Vice President for Uyo Federal Constituency and Deputy President.

Other Vice Presidents elected are Mr. Edet Ikotidem, representing Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency, and Mr. Edidiong Ita, representing Etinan Federal Constituency.

Hon. Itorobong Umoh emerged as Secretary, while Itoro-Etas Iniobong was elected Assistant Secretary.

The new leadership also includes Mr. Ukara Effiong as Treasurer and Mr. Victor Preacher as Financial Secretary. Mr. Ubon Marcus was elected Spokesperson, while Mr. Victor Ukpong emerged as Director of Contact and Mobilization.

Saviour Umana was elected Deputy Director of Internal Mobilization, while Comrade Samuel Basse will serve as Deputy Director of External Relations and Outreach.

In the area of information and technology, Mr. Destiny Young was elected Director of ICT, with Mr. Aniekeme John as Deputy Director of ICT and Iberedem Peter as Deputy Director of ICT, Graphics Design.

Mr. Richard Okon emerged Director of New Media, with Kingsley Edet as Deputy Director of New Media, while Anamati Inyang was elected Director of Content.

The Board also approved Comrade Henshaw Nyong as Director of Ethics and Professional Standards and Mr. Godwin Edet as Director of Programmes, with Iniobong Samuel Iwaudofia as Deputy Director of Programmes.

For the print media arm, Mr. Etebong Akpan was elected Director of Print Media, while Comrade Uwem Ekoh emerged Deputy Director of Print Media.
Comrade Courage Mbon was elected Director of Electronic Media, with Stephen Uwah as Deputy Director.

Mr. Goodwealth Bassey emerged Director of Visuals, while Idorenyin Inyang was elected Deputy Director of Visuals.
The Forum also elected Mr. Cavil Uduak Inwang as Director of Research and Analytics, with Mr. Iniobong Ituen as Deputy Director.

Mr. Linus Effiong was elected Director of Strategy and Secretariat Support, while Mr. Ephraim Ikpe will serve as an Ex-Officio member.

The Board of Trustees said the newly elected officers were expected to assume their respective responsibilities immediately and conduct themselves in accordance with the Constitution, policies and decisions of the Forum, as well as directives issued by the Board.

The Board congratulated the new officers and charged them to approach their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity, commitment and discipline.

It also stressed the importance of respecting the collective interests of the Forum and working together to strengthen its unity and professional standing.

The Board further called on members of the Uyo Senatorial District Media Professionals Forum to extend the necessary cooperation and support to the new leadership to enable it to effectively discharge its mandate.

The election is expected to usher in a new phase in the administration of the Forum, with the new executives saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the activities of media professionals, promoting professional standards and advancing the objectives of the organisation.

The new leadership is also expected to strengthen collaboration among members across the various media platforms and constituencies within the Uyo Senatorial District, while ensuring that the Forum remains a credible platform for professional development, networking and collective advancement.
