Umo Eno’s PhD: When results cancel insults

They devoured him like soldier ants, gnawing at his flesh like maggots, yet he remained unharmed by their serpentine tongues.

He emerged as a World War II veteran, an Alban king, ultimately triumphing like King David against the Assyrians armies .

They attempted to mock his character, but the people of Akwa Ibom elevated him at the ballot box.

Despite their continued rage, like a blazing flame, their fire was extinguished by the Supreme God in the Supreme Court.

They claimed his educational qualifications were merely a collection of fabricated documents from Oluwale.

They announced to the world that he had been expelled from the University of Uyo and even brought Ekpo Ekong from Ibiono as a witness in the Federal High Court.

In their misguided celebration, they resembled assailants who had plundered a treasury of diamonds, yet ultimately lost all hope amidst the mountains of truth. Still, they continued to blackmail him, treating him like a woman caught in adultery.

Their prophet evaded justice in court, and their lies withered away as quickly as tomatoes left overnight. Nevertheless, they continued to shout at the top of their lungs that he had never been a student at the University of Uyo.

The school registrar presented various documents in the trial court to prove them wrong, yet they defiantly danced on the grave of an innocent soul, drunk and singing songs of mockery.

They roared like a hungry lion, instilling fear and tension, as it became clear that the Governor would be disgraced and removed from office due to his lack of qualifications.

Social media was ablaze with fervor; many were deceived into believing the falsehoods being spread. Users began to chant in dissonant tones, like toads and frogs, with Pilate leading their misguided chorus.

Despite facing humiliation at the Federal High Court and dismissal by the Court of Appeal, they pressed on to the Supreme Court, where they ultimately experienced great shame.

Even after Governor Umo Eno won at the polls, they continued to fight, challenging the results at the Tribunal and failing.

They returned to the Appeal Court, only to emerge in disgrace once more. Yet, like persistent demons, they refused to relent until they were finally thwarted by the undeniable truth revealed by the Supreme Court.

Although Governor Umo Eno has long since forgiven his critics, embodying the true spirit of Christianity and preaching inclusivity wherever he goes, the scars of their actions are difficult to forget.

He has brought an extraordinary sense of peace to Akwa Ibom State, holding no grudges against anyone and viewing all Akwa Ibom people as one united entity.

The Governor invites everyone to participate in the development of Akwa Ibom State, exemplifying the qualities of a true gentleman. He perceives their past actions as a catalyst that elevated him to his current position.

In his commitment to progress, Governor Umo Eno is fostering development in the very communities of those who opposed him, seeing no wrongdoing in their actions, despite the challenges they once posed.

The moment of truth arrived during the 29th and 30th combine convocation at the University of Uyo, where Governor Umo Eno received a Doctor of Administration degree from the Department of Public Administration, bringing an end to the tears he had once shed.

This achievement has dispelled many of the insults spread by his detractors, who sought to tarnish his reputation through malicious politics.

As Governor Umo Eno extends his forgiveness, perhaps those who accused him could find the courage to offer an apology to this remarkable man, who values peace more than any riches.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as the Governor dedicated the doctorate degree to his late wife, Her Excellency, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.

It was a bittersweet moment, one that would have filled our beloved First Lady with pride had she been alive to witness the honour that erased the shame from her husband’s life.

Oh, Death, thou hast claimed our mother in her bloom, With a heart so cold, thou hast cast us into gloom. Yet, Governor Umo Bassey Eno, take heed, Question not the Divine, for in wisdom He does lead.

The outcome marks the end of a long and painful struggle. In this moment, I thank you for honouring her life with your heartfelt tribute. Though some may weep and mourn today , they will ultimately find joy at the feet of the Saviour, where tears and sorrow can never dwell.

Your Ph.D. is a result that has silenced the insults and shame you endured. God has granted you glory. Congratulations, Sir!
