In a strategic move to strengthen collaboration between the media and law enforcement, Ambassador Cornel Udofia has called on journalists and media practitioners across Nigeria to support the newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom.

Ambassador Udofia, who serves as the Public Relations Officer of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), made the call while congratulating the new AIG on his recent appointment, describing it as a well-earned recognition of his professionalism and years of dedicated service in the Nigeria Police Force.

He stressed the critical role of the media in enhancing transparency, accountability, and public trust in policing, noting that effective crime reporting and information dissemination are vital to national security.

According to him, AIG Akpanudom’s appointment reflects his wealth of experience, strong administrative capacity, and proven expertise in criminal investigations. He described the new FCID boss as a seasoned officer with a track record of excellence and integrity.

Ambassador Udofia further urged journalists and media stakeholders to build a relationship with the AIG anchored on trust, professionalism, and mutual respect.

He emphasized that such synergy between the media and the police would significantly improve crime reporting, intelligence sharing, and public enlightenment.

He expressed confidence that under AIG Akpanudom’s leadership, the FCID Annex in Lagos would experience enhanced operational efficiency, improved intelligence gathering, and increased public confidence in the police.

“The media remains a vital partner in nation-building. Supporting credible leadership within the police force is not just necessary but imperative for the safety and stability of our society,” he stated.

Ambassador Udofia concluded by wishing the new AIG a successful tenure and reaffirmed his commitment, alongside other stakeholders, to initiatives that promote peace, security, and justice in Lagos State and across the country.
