Shifting gears: Automobile Group in Ebonyi marks Golden Jubilee

Five decades of shaping the automotive landscape in Ebonyi State, the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) celebrated its Golden Jubilee, underscoring its impact on the state’s growth.

During the celebration, the President of NATA, Comrade Fidelis Ukwah, lauded the state government’s efforts in uplifting the Ebonyi people.

He also called on the authorities to provide essential amenities within the Mechanics Village to ease their businesses and their operations.

According to the President, rehabilitation of street roads, installation of solar energy street lights, provision of a healthcare center, free training for automobile artisans and creation of a pooling unit were key for members’ daily existence in the Village.

He also appealed to the government to complete the NATA Ultra Modern Unity Hall and implement youth empowerment programs as promised.

He said, “The Golden Jubilee celebration was a testament to the organization’s enduring legacy and its contributions to the state’s automotive industry.

“NATA has been a driving force behind the state’s automotive sector, promoting excellence and innovation among auto-artisans. The organization comprises eight arms, each specializing in a specific area of automotive repair and maintenance. These arms include Motor Mechanics Association, Welders and General Fitters Association, Panel Beaters Association, Auto-Electricians Association, Vulcanised Association, Auto-Body Builders Association, Auto-Sprayers & Arts Association, and Auto-Upholster Association.

“NATA’s efforts have gone beyond just providing quality services to the community. The organization has also empowered numerous artisans, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the automotive industry.”

Also speaking, NATA’s Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, said the organization has empowered 18 people in the Mechanics Village.

The Chairman of the Vulcanizers arm of NATA, Mr Elom Simon, called on the state government to provide modern tools, machines and free training for the artisans to enable the aged and disabled population among them to participate in their businesses.
