Scroll Global warns against exploiting sponsors, volunteers for personal gain

A non-governmental organization, Scroll Global Organization, popularly known as Scroll Global, has cautioned social workers nationwide against manipulating sponsors and volunteers for personal gain.

The appeal came from the NGO’s founder, Sylvester Osarenren, during a two-day virtual capacity-building workshop, “Leadership and Effective Social Works Delivery,” held on Friday and Saturday, 27 – 28 June 2025.

“Social workers should not look to anyone for reward,” Osarenren said. “What matters is building trust and showing up for the people. There is dignity in social work.”

He added that the NGO should focus on human-capacity building and peace advocacy, reiterating that its core values remain transparency, service, and community empowerment.

Guest facilitator Principal Consultant at Watergate Global, Mr Femi Elufidiya, echoed the call for integrity, describing leadership as “the ability to influence, inspire, and guide communities toward shared goals,” while reaffirming that true social work “is about improving lives, not chasing personal benefits.”

Osarenren also unveiled Scroll Global’s third-quarter initiative: a free digital skills academy aimed at training 1,000 participants in scriptwriting, data analysis, social media marketing, web development, video editing, and graphics design.

Key volunteers who took part in the weekend’s session included Sofia Samuel, Percy Igbarora, Henry Okonkwo, Iziengbe Faith, Lawrence Enyoghasu, Adesina Faith, and others.
