RULAAC calls for judicial panel of inquiry into tragic explosion in Mbosi Community, Anambra State
Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has demanded a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate a tragic explosion in Mbosi community, Ihiala Local Council, Anambra State, that killed three children and left one person hospitalized.
According to the Executive Director, RULAAC, Com. Okechukwu Nwanguma, residents initially alleged that a cannon from a military helicopter caused the explosion, but the Nigerian Air Force vehemently denied involvement, stating no military operations occurred in the area.
‘The President General of the community, Azuka Innocent Okolie, also dismissed claims of military involvement, attributing the explosion to the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed group of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“Okolie urged residents to remain vigilant. This conflicting narrative underscores the urgent need for a thorough investigation to clarify the facts and provide closure to the grieving families”, he said.

Nwanguma emphasized that the silence from relevant authorities, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo and lawmakers representing the area, is alarming and unacceptable.
RULAAC demands an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation to ensure justice, accountability, and action to prevent similar tragedies ³.

In a strongly worded statement, Comrade Onuoha Endurance Eberechukwu, State Chairman of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) in Anambra State, condemned this act as a “barbaric” assault on unarmed civilians.
He emphasized that the loss of these children represents a grave violation of international humanitarian laws and a disturbing escalation of violence against the community.
“We stand united in our demand for an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation by a judicial panel of inquiry into this incident. The silence from relevant authorities, including Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuka Soludo and lawmakers representing the area, is both alarming and unacceptable. Our children’s blood cannot be washed away with silence; we demand justice, accountability, and action to ensure that this kind of tragedy never occurs again,” Comrade Onuoha stated.
As the community faces this tragedy, the group implored the government to prioritize the safety and protection of its people over political ambitions as it heads toward the 2027 gubernatorial election. The welfare of the citizens should remain paramount, and governance should not be overshadowed by electoral considerations.
