PVCs collection: IDEAL-NIGERIA commends INEC on smooth process

Initiative For Ideal Development And Emancipatory Leadership In Nigeria (IDEAL-NIGERIA), has commended the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on smooth process of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) collections in Abia State.

Speaking on their visits to INEC headquarter in Umuahia the capital city of Abia State to observe the level of compliance and readiness of the citizens particularly those who were part of the just concluded continuous voter registration (CVR) to collect their PVCs.

Executive Director, IDEAL-NIGERIA, Pastor Nwokocha Anozie Innocent, said that it was their tradition since the  exercise began in which case they  have visited other L.G.As, the PVC collection process was  seamless and relatively smooth free.

He added that although, there were complaints ranging from delay in sorting out the cards and perhaps the issue of attending to those present with particular consideration to first come first served principle.

“In our independent opinion, this is primarily due to the gradual building up of numbers as the awareness on the exercise is constantly gaining momentum which obviously require patience but we pray for improvement in this regard.

“Subsequent follow up indicates that majority of the people we met on ground collected and went home with their PVCs,” he explained.

Anozie noted  that presently, INEC is issuing out PVCs for those who did fresh registration, made request for replacement for lost, stolen, broken or defaced ones.

“The exercise continues from January 2, to January 15, 2023 but this time at the ward level. From January 16 to January 22, 2023, it will return to the INEC headquarters once again and for last time.

‘Time for this exercise (Monday to Sunday) on the designated dates is 9:00 a:m to 3 pm daily. A better and informed society is a product of great citizens participation/involvement in the way they are governed.

“Therefore get inspired and aspire to be governed by conscienable men and women who you would have contributed to their emergence in the forthcoming general elections via your vote,” he stated.
