Police negligence: RULAAC demands justice for maimed victim

Stanley Ihedigbo

Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has written to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, demanding immediate investigation and action regarding a petition filed by Mr. David Adoyi.

Adoyi was allegedly maimed and disabled due to the reckless and negligent actions of police officers attached to the Ketu Police Station.

Despite previous directives from the Commissioner’s predecessor, the investigation file has yet to be acted upon, and no steps have been taken to hold the responsible officers accountable or compensate Adoyi for his loss.

According to Mr. Samuel Akpologun, for RULAAC, they are urging the Lagos State Police Command to treat this matter with urgency and seriousness, demonstrating a commitment to justice and accountability.

The advocacy centre is requesting immediate confirmation of the receipt of the concluded investigation file, expeditious action on the recommendations made, and transparency and updates on the status of the investigation and any compensation arrangements.

Failure to address this matter promptly may lead to further legal action.
