Nwoye hits ground running, appoints Amah as Chief of Staff

Newly elected Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye, has made his first official appointment, naming Hon. Timothy Amah as his Chief of Staff.

The announcement, made late Saturday night at the campaign secretariat amid jubilation by supporters, marks a decisive start to Dr. Nwoye’s leadership and underscores his commitment to loyalty, continuity, and efficient administration as he assumes office.

Hon. Amah, who served as Director-General of Dr. Nwoye’s campaign organisation, was widely credited for orchestrating the strategic coordination that led to Nwoye’s emergence through a consensus process, defeating incumbent Chief Emma Eneukwu.

Party insiders described the appointment as both strategic and well-earned, citing Amah’s dedication, grassroots mobilization strength, and organizational expertise throughout the campaign period.

A senior aide noted that Amah’s role would be pivotal in ensuring seamless coordination and the swift rollout of the “New Dawn” agenda for the Southern region.

Speaking shortly after the announcement, Dr. Nwoye expressed strong confidence in his appointee.

“I am delighted to appoint my trusted ally, Hon. Timothy Amah, as Chief of Staff. He stood with me from day one of this journey. His experience, loyalty, and deep understanding of our vision make him the perfect person to help drive the unification, mobilization, and strategic goals we have set for the APC in Southern Nigeria,” he said.

He further emphasized that the appointment signals the beginning of a broader effort to build a professional and results-oriented team capable of strengthening party structures across the South-East, South-South, and South-West regions.

“We will work around the clock to foster unity and deliver massive support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially as we look ahead to the 2027 elections,” Nwoye added.

Hon. Amah is regarded as a seasoned politician with deep experience in party administration and grassroots engagement.

During the campaign, he coordinated activities across zonal structures, youth and women wings, and key stakeholders, helping to amplify Nwoye’s message of unity and renewal.

The appointment has been met with widespread approval among party stakeholders.

Delegates at the convention reportedly broke into chants of “Amah! Amah!” as news of his appointment filtered through the venue.

Reactions have continued to pour in across party lines, with a South-East chieftain describing the move as “a masterstroke that shows Dr. Nwoye is ready for serious work from day one.”

Supporters believe the decision reinforces Nwoye’s promise of inclusive leadership and sends a clear message that loyalty, competence, and hard work will be rewarded under the new dispensation.

Political analysts say the early appointment is a strong indication that Dr. Nwoye intends to hit the ground running by quickly setting up a functional office and driving key reforms.

They argue that positioning a trusted and experienced ally at the heart of operations could transform the office of the Deputy National Chairman (South) into a strategic hub for political mobilization and policy coordination across the region.

As the APC looks ahead to consolidating its influence in Southern Nigeria, the Nwoye-Amah partnership is expected to play a central role in shaping the party’s direction and strengthening its grassroots appeal in the coming years.
