NUMTEN Ogun Chapter condemns killing of trader at Ifo market, demands justice

National Union of Market Traders Employers of Nigeria (NUMTEN) has expressed deep sorrow over the recent killing of a fellow trader at the Ifo Market in Ogun State.

The trader’s death, reportedly caused by the unlawful actions of touts and illegal tax collectors, has been condemned by the union as a senseless act of violence.

In a press statement signed by Ogun State NUMTEN Chairman, Comrade Clement Olaoshebikan Adidoloro, the union called for unity among market leaders to combat harassment and violence in Nigerian markets.

NUMTEN demanded that the Ogun State Government deploy security personnel to safeguard lives and property in markets, and urged the Nigerian Police to launch a full investigation into the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

The union emphasized that traders deserve protection, not violence, and that injury to one trader is an injury to all.

NUMTEN remains resolute in its mission to restore order, security, and fairness in Nigerian markets, and will not relent until marketplaces are safe, inclusive, and free from intimidation and unlawful levies.
