Methodist Church urges men to defy odds, build faith, families

Methodist Church Men’s Fellowship, South West Regional, has urged men to defy the odds to build their faith and families.

In their Communiqué issued at the end of the South West Region 4th Biennial Convention, they emphasized the need for men to arise and build their faith, families, and communities.

The communique was signed by the South West Regional President, Sir Dr. Oladele Taiwo; Secretary, Evang. Adebayo Oduyemi and Coordinator, The Very Rev Ola Dan Kazeem, also urged men to take their rightful position in families and society and to defy the odds and defend the truth.

Men are implored to take their rightful position in the family and homes. Thereby making it a Safe Haven for their wives and children. They must set a legacy by leading their respective families to God.

By involving them in the act of worshipping and also ensuring that their children are involved in the various activities of the Church, such as Campus Fellowship, Youth Fellowship, Choirister, Boys’ Brigade, Young Men’s Fellowship,p, and several other Societies organizations of our Church.

The issue of the *Gen Z* generation is that the children leave home half naked without their fathers calling them to others and checking to mate them to dress properly.

Their stand is the need for the fathers to put their homes in check thereby discouraging this shameful and indecent act.

The convention lamented that men no longer teach their children about the Lord anymore while condemning a
a situation where men fail to take control of their families and
allow their children and wives to attend other churches or denominations leaving their churches with empty pews.

The young ones should be encouraged to take up leadership roles or decisions in the Church for proper mentorship.

The event that brought together over 450 delegates from across the southwest region, themed; “Men Arise and Build,” featured keynote addresses, lectures, and discussions focused on empowering men to take their rightful position in families and society.

The Very Revd. Dr. S.R. Nortey, Bishop, Lagos Central, declared the Convention open, while Sir Seye Awojobi KJW presented the keynote address.

The Convention also featured lectures on stress management and security precautions, as well as a posthumous award presentation to the family of Pa. A. O. Taiwo, a foundation member of the Fellowship.

The keynote speaker, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rt. Revd. Prof. Stephen Tunde Adegbite, admonished men to rise and pray for the current administration of President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed in the reformation of the Nation in putting an end to the problems of Insecurity, Hunger, Kidnapping Banditry, Embezzlement of
Public Funds and Religious Bigotry among others.

The Convention was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Ali Aba JP, National Men’s Fellowship President, National Coordinator, The Very Revd. James Adikwe; Sir Dr. Kehinde Oladeji, hosting Bishop, the Rt. Revd. Oladapo O. Babalola, The Rt. Revd. Dr. S.R. Nortey, Bishop, Lagos Central declared the Convention opened.
