Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has been honoured with the prestigious Defence Policy and Innovative Visionary Award at the fourth edition of the MediaConsortium Conference and Awards.
The award, according to the organisers, was presented in recognition of the Minister’s strategic leadership, policy direction and efforts toward strengthening Nigeria’s defence and security architecture.
MediaConsortium said the recognition reflects what it described as the Minister’s contribution to the evolution of Nigeria’s defence strategies in response to emerging and complex security challenges.
The organisation highlighted areas including technological integration, intelligence-driven operations, inter-agency collaboration, troop welfare and efforts to strengthen local capacity within the defence sector.
The organisers also cited the promotion of data-driven operational approaches, military-industrial local production and policy reforms as areas associated with the Ministry’s current strategic direction.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Minister, Commodore UCV Ajulu, mni, expressed appreciation to the organisers and management of MediaConsortium for the recognition.
Delivering the Minister’s acceptance message, Ajulu said the award reflected the direction of the country’s security architecture under the leadership of the Defence Minister.
“This recognition is no doubt in line with the vision of the security architecture the Minister has established for the country,” Ajulu said.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continuous innovation and efforts to strengthen the nation’s capacity to respond to emerging security threats.
The award presentation was one of the major highlights of the annual MediaConsortium event, which brought together corporate leaders, policymakers, media executives, military representatives and other stakeholders.
The conference was held under the theme, “The Value Shift: Strategies for the new market reality in the age of the empowered consumer.”
In his opening remarks, Godwin Anyebe, Co-Publisher of MediaConsortium Magazine, welcomed the participants and distinguished guests, including members of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), creative innovators and other strategic stakeholders.
Anyebe said the conference was organised to examine changing market realities and recognise individuals and organisations demonstrating leadership and adaptability across different sectors.
He noted that increased access to information, digital connectivity and changing economic behaviour had significantly altered the relationship between businesses and consumers.
“Today, information accessibility, digital connectivity, and heightened economic consciousness have flipped the historic model,” Anyebe said.
According to him, the changing environment requires organisations to adopt forward-looking strategies, strengthen collaboration across sectors and embrace innovation.
The conference featured a keynote address by the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Dr. Bolajoko Bayo-Ajayi.
Other speakers included Femi Opadere, Head of Digital at Globacom (Glo), while a multi-sectoral panel brought together representatives from Evercorp Industries, AXA Mansard and StarTimes.
The discussions focused on strategic adaptation, changing consumer expectations, innovation, market transformation and ethical governance in the emerging business environment.
