Charles Okonji
National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. (Dr.) Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, has been elected President of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI).
Ibrahim emerged victorious following a keenly contested election, in what has been described as a significant recognition of his leadership, strategic vision and commitment to private-sector development.
His election marks an important achievement for Nigeria and the organised private sector, further strengthening the country’s role in promoting commerce, investment and economic cooperation across the West African sub-region.
As President of FEWACCI, Ibrahim is expected to provide leadership in strengthening cooperation among chambers of commerce across West Africa, promoting regional economic integration and expanding intra-regional trade.
He is also expected to champion policies and initiatives aimed at supporting enterprise growth, improving the business environment and creating opportunities for sustainable economic development and shared prosperity across the region.
His emergence as FEWACCI President further reinforces Nigeria’s prominent position in regional commerce and is expected to usher in a new phase of purposeful engagement, stronger private-sector partnerships and deeper economic collaboration among West African countries.
The leadership of NACCIMA expressed confidence that Ibrahim’s experience and strategic outlook would contribute significantly to advancing the objectives of FEWACCI and strengthening the voice of the organised private sector in the region.
The election is therefore being viewed as both a personal recognition of Ibrahim’s contribution to private-sector development and an important development for Nigeria’s business community.
