Empowering vulnerable: Great Hope Foundation engages Humanitarian Minister in Jos

In a move aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing the welfare of vulnerable groups, the Chief Executive Officer of the Great Hope Vulnerable Widow and Orphan Foundation, Barrister Hadiza Miko, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Mohammad Doro, at his residence in Jos, Plateau State.

According to the Secretary
Great Hope Vulnerable Widow and Orphan Foundation, Bala Sani Shehi, the visit provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement on issues affecting widows and orphans across the country, with a focus on sustainable interventions capable of lifting beneficiaries out of poverty.

Discussions centered on how government and non-governmental organizations can work together to design and implement empowerment programmes that promote self-reliance, dignity, and long-term economic stability for vulnerable populations.

Barrister Miko highlighted the core mission of the Great Hope Vulnerable Widow and Orphan Foundation, which is dedicated to training widows and orphans in various vocational and life-enhancing skills.

According to her, the Foundation places strong emphasis on capacity building, skills acquisition, and empowerment initiatives aimed at reducing dependency, vulnerability, and poverty among its beneficiaries.

She further explained that the Foundation has continued to provide opportunities for widows and orphans to acquire practical skills that enable them to become economically independent and contribute meaningfully to society, despite prevailing social and economic challenges.

In his response, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Mohammad Doro, commended Barrister Hadiza Miko and her team for their passion, dedication, and commitment to humanitarian service.

He stressed the importance of synergy between government institutions and credible non-governmental organizations in delivering effective humanitarian interventions and achieving sustainable poverty reduction.

Dr. Doro encouraged the Foundation to sustain its impactful programmes, noting that such grassroots-driven initiatives are critical to complementing government efforts in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members of society.
