Education community mourns Prof. Albert Alos, pioneer PAU Vice-Chancellor

Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) has announced the death of Professor Albert Alos, pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the university and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School (LBS).

Professor Alos passed away on September 5, 2026.

The university described the deceased as a visionary educator, distinguished scholar and institution builder whose leadership and commitment to excellence played a foundational role in the development of both Pan-Atlantic University and Lagos Business School.

According to the university, Prof. Alos made enduring contributions to higher education and helped shape generations of leaders who continue to contribute to Nigeria, Africa and the wider world.

As the institution’s pioneer Vice-Chancellor and the Founding Dean of LBS, he was instrumental in establishing a culture of academic excellence, ethical leadership and service which remains central to the mission and values of the university.

His influence, the university said, extended beyond the classroom, as he inspired students, faculty members, staff, alumni and colleagues through his professionalism, integrity and commitment to the common good.

Reflecting on his legacy, Pan-Atlantic University said Prof. Alos played a significant role in laying the foundations for an institution committed to developing competent and responsible leaders.

The Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University, Prof. Enase Okonedo, described his death as the loss of a remarkable educator and leader whose contributions remain deeply embedded in the history and ethos of the institution.

“Professor Albert Alos leaves behind a legacy deeply woven into the history and ethos of Pan-Atlantic University. As a teacher, mentor and leader, he inspired countless individuals through his wisdom, integrity and service. His contributions will continue to influence generations to come,” she said.

The university extended its condolences to Prof. Alos’ family, friends, colleagues, former students and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

The Pan-Atlantic University community said it would continue to honour the memory of the late professor and the enduring impact of his life’s work.

The university also called on members of its community and the public to remember Prof. Alos in their prayers and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.
