Delta Police nab armed robbers, drug dealer in coordinated intelligence operations

Delta State Police Command has recorded a significant operational breakthrough in its sustained fight against violent crime, following the arrest of suspected armed robbers and the recovery of lethal firearms and ammunition in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command,
Asaba, SP Bright Edafe, the successful operation was carried out by operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), acting on credible and actionable intelligence.

On December 28, 2025, the CP-SAT, led by ASP Julius Robinson, conducted a swift and coordinated raid on a criminal hideout located in the Otorwhodo area of Ughelli North LGA.

During the operation, one suspect, Moses Tejiri, a 24-year-old male native and resident of the area, was arrested, while other members of the criminal gang escaped by scaling nearby fences.

A thorough search conducted on the arrested suspect led to the recovery of the following items: one long Dane gun, ten rounds of live cartridges, two locally fabricated Beretta pistols, and eleven rounds of live ammunition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect made useful confessional statements, admitting his involvement in a series of armed robbery operations within Ughelli metropolis.

He reportedly confessed to participating in attacks around Ekredjebor, Olu Avenue, Winners Road, and other locations in the area.

In a related development, the Delta State Police Command also recorded success in its crackdown on the illegal sale and distribution of controlled drugs.

On December 29, 2025, following intensified surveillance by the State Intelligence Department (SID) over the indiscriminate display and sale of prohibited drugs at a hotel along Victoria Junction, Okpanam Road, operatives arrested one Isu Emmanuel, a male who claimed to be a nurse at Guard Health Pharmacy, Okpanam.

The suspect was reportedly notorious for selling and distributing controlled and prohibited drugs to members of the public without medical prescriptions.

Items recovered during the operation included twenty-eight sachets of Tramadol (100mg), sixteen sachets of Swindol, three bottles of Barcadine containing codeine syrup, and other prohibited substances.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his activities and possible accomplices.

The Delta State Police Command has reassured residents that intelligence-driven patrols, targeted raids, and proactive crime-prevention strategies remain firmly in place to deny criminal elements any safe haven within the state.
