Arodiogbu defends Tinubu’s reforms, says opposition offers no credible alternative

National Vice Chairman (South East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiofgbu, has criticized Nigeria’s major opposition parties, describing them as visionless and incapable of providing the leadership needed to address the country’s challenges.

Speaking while reviewing the nation’s political landscape, the APC chieftain said the opposition lacks the substance, coordination and strategic direction required to present a credible alternative to Nigerians.

He challenged opposition leaders to “enrol in the Asiwaju School of Governance”—a metaphorical reference to the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—to acquire practical knowledge in governance, policy formulation and coalition-building.

According to Dr. Arodiogbu, effective leadership goes beyond political criticism and requires courage, preparation and the ability to take difficult but necessary decisions in the interest of the nation.

“President Tinubu has shown courage in making decisions that previous administrations avoided. Leadership requires vision, resilience and strategic thinking. Those who aspire to govern Nigeria should learn the values of preparation, policy formulation and nation-building rather than relying solely on political rhetoric,” he said.

He further urged opposition politicians to study what he described as the Tinubu administration’s approach to governance.

“Enrol in the Asiwaju School of Governance and learn how to build consensus, implement reforms and deliver results under challenging conditions. President Tinubu has demonstrated what visionary leadership looks like, from stabilizing the economy to empowering the youth,” he stated.

Dr. Arodiogbu argued that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has continued to pursue bold economic reforms, infrastructure expansion, fiscal restructuring and policies designed to reposition Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth.

He maintained that despite persistent criticism of government policies, opposition parties have failed to articulate a coherent national agenda capable of inspiring confidence among Nigerians.

“You claim to have solutions, but where is the vision? Where is the substance? Where is the coordination? The opposition is in disarray and completely lacks the capacity to fix Nigeria’s challenges,” he declared.

The APC National Vice Chairman contrasted what he described as the opposition’s lack of direction with the Federal Government’s reforms in education through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), youth development initiatives, the proposed overhaul of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), economic repositioning and ongoing infrastructure projects.

According to him, governance should be measured by practical solutions and measurable outcomes rather than constant criticism of government policies.

“The opposition must understand that governance is not about making loud headlines or criticizing every government policy. It is about presenting workable solutions, building consensus and demonstrating the capacity to lead. What Nigerians deserve is constructive engagement, not politics without direction,” he said.

Reaffirming his confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, Dr. Arodiogbu expressed optimism that the government’s ongoing reforms would produce long-term economic stability, generate employment opportunities and improve the living standards of Nigerians.

He also called on citizens to continue supporting policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, promoting national unity and accelerating sustainable national development.

The APC leader concluded that while democratic opposition remains an essential part of governance, political parties seeking to govern must demonstrate clear vision, policy depth and the capacity to unite Nigerians around practical solutions to the country’s socio-economic challenges.
