APC youths cry out: Igando Ikotun leadership accused of marginalization

All Progressive Congress (APC) youths in Igando Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have raised concerns over their alleged marginalization by the party leadership.

Despite their loyalty and active participation in the party’s activities, the youths claimed they had been denied political appointments and offices.

The recent local government elections saw five candidates contest for positions, with the majority being older politicians who have held positions in the past.

The youths are questioning the reason behind their exclusion from these positions, especially when they have been loyal party members.

Speaking with The Mirror Newspaper, one of the Youth leaders who pledged anonymously said, ” We are calling on the respected leaders of APC to look into this matter.”

“The chairmanship aspirants should be considered for the post of the Secretary to the Local Government, and the youths must also be represented, irrespective of their religion, tribe, or political groups within the APC.”

The youths accused the party leaders of dividing the members and prioritizing personal interests over building harmony and peace within the party.

They urged the leadership to balance the present arrangement and consider the political interests of the youths, particularly those who have contested for chairmanship positions and campaigned vigorously for the party.

The APC youths in Igando Ikotun LCDA are demanding a change in the party’s leadership approach, which they believe will determine the party’s future in the area.

They want the party to appreciate loyalty and hard work, rather than mediocrity, and to prioritize the interests of the youth.

The situation has raised concerns about the party’s prospects in future elections, with the youths warning that the present trend may lead to political apathy.

The youths are urging the party leadership to correct this situation before the next election, emphasizing that the youth is the future of the party and must be carried along accordingly.

They noted that the following names were also the aspirants who bought forms in the 2021 and 2025 chairmanship elections, respectively.

Akinsanya Lasisi(64) from old ward “F”(re-elected chairman), former SLG under Late Morenike Williams; Adewunmi Dada (65) from old ward “F”(elected vice chairman), former vice chairman under Late Morenike Williams; Arizona Oloruwa (55) from old ward ” E1″ (Serving Supervisory councillor for 15years straight till date) served under Hon. Ola Mao, Late Morenike Williams, and still serving under Lasisi Akinsanya.

Also, Akinyemi Afeez Akintunde (45) from old ward “E1”, chairmanship aspirant 2021 and 2025; and Oseni Olajide Hammed (46) from old ward “E1”, chairmanship aspirant 2021 and 2025;
