The 2025 Onwa Oru Uratta Cultural Festival promised to be an unforgettable celebration of unity, love, and mutual coexistence among the many communities.

This year’s event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including All Progressive Congress (APC) Chieftain in Lagos State, and Former board member, Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), Hon. Chief Nicholas Adekunle Chidiebere Ajayi; Ezhii Nwoke Eji Eje Mba 1 Gbrugburu Ndom Uratta, His Royal Highest, King Dr. Sean Micheal Ogweze 111; National President -General, Uratta Development Union (UDU), Chief Engr. Stanley Ukaga; Chairman of the occasion, Nwachinemere of Ihitaoha Uratta, Chief Sir. Barrister Victor Chukwuemeka Egejuru, and the Co-Chairman, Obidike Uratta, High Chief Sir Charles Emmanuel Obinna.

Speaking at the event, with the theme: Otu -Obi; Hon. Chief Nicholas Adekunle Chidiebere Ajayi, expressed his unwavering support for the Igbo community in Lagos State.

Ajayi who was represented by his wife, Lolo Oluwakemi Ajayi, emphasized the importance of unity and peace among the community members.

The FIIRO ex-board member reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Igbo community in Lagos State, recognizing their contributions to the state’s growth and development.

He appealed to the people to continue praying for the President, Senator Ahmad Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the need for collective support to address the nation’s security challenges.

The ruling party chieftain assured the gathering of his dedication to promoting peace and harmony, recognizing the importance of a stable environment for progress and development.

In his keynote address, Dr. Stephen Iyka Unamba of the University of Paderborn, Germany, said that the Onwaoru Uratta is an ancient culture that is very important to the Uratta people because it is a traditional means of conducting prayers to God for a successful farming season and abundant harvest.

He further said that Otu-Obi pertains to the coexistence within a shared locality, encompassing shared values, beliefs, culture and region.

“Otu-Obi, as a concept, has evolved in various societies. However, its expression can differ significantly based on religion and cultural context. In communities where there is homogeneity, Otu-Obi predominates and tends to develop more readily,” he explained.

In his remarks, the President-General, of Uratta Development Association, Lagos State, Ezinna Sir Philips Akujobi Udunna, commended the guests and communities for the success of this year’s event.
