Anambra State Government debunks media reports, says it pays N70,000 minimum wage

Anambra State Government has confirmed the payment of the new minimum wage of N70,000 to its workers.

According to a statement made available to The Mirror, Governor Charles Soludo has begun implementing the new wage, as directed by the Federal Government, to improve workers’ standard of living.

The confirmation comes after some media reports excluded Anambra from the list of states paying the new minimum wage.

However, the state government has clarified that it started paying the new wage in October 2024.

Governor Soludo’s administration has been praised for its labour-friendly policies, including paying salaries on or before the 25th of every month and adjusting pensions upward to give pensioners a higher take-home.

Governor Soludo”s administration is committed to the improved welfare of Anambra State workers, the statement added.

He has also adjusted pensions upward to give pensioners in Anambra State higher take-home, the statement concluded.
