Anambra State Executive Council approves strategic contracts for infrastructural development, flood control

Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has given the green light to strategic contracts aimed at enhancing the beauty of Awka’s metropolis and tackling the issue of flooding.

The move is part of Governor Charles Soludo’s ongoing efforts to transform Anambra State into a livable and prosperous smart megacity.

According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, ANSEC at its fourth meeting, approved the reconstruction and fortification of the perimeter fence at the commissioners’ quarters, Awka, and construction of 2 NR model gates at general hospitals, with additional work of landscaping; interlocking and fencing of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri Hospital Compound.

The Council has also awarded the contract for the repainting and renovation of the VIP stand, and the reclamation and control of flood and gully erosion at the Cosmetics Market.

Recently, Governor Soludo completed the 16.5km Nza Ozubulu-Ukpor Road in Ekwusigo Local Government Area and tackled the issue of erosion that has been disturbing the people of Ozubulu for years.

The projects have received commendation from community leaders who described Governor Soludo as the Solution Governor who keeps his promises.

They said the road which has long been abandoned by previous governments, has been constructed by Soludo within a short time.

Soludo also delivered the 2.8 km Nawfia Road, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, which connects the Awka-Onitsha Old Road to the Awka-Onitsha Expressway, and the construction of the 2.62 km Bank Road in Nnewi, which connects to St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Uruagu Nnewi.

The governor’s infrastructural drive is a new phase of development in making Anambra the Japan of Africa, an initiative that underscores his commitment to transforming the state into a destination for businesses and economic activities to thrive.

This is also evident in the governor’s project to reshape Ekwulobia, one of the major towns in Anambra State, into a cosmopolitan city, amongst other developments in the state, with a newly constructed flyover that has reduced traffic gridlock and connects local businesses to a broader market, with illumination.
