The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abdul Hakeem Owoade Elewuetu I, has received an appeal from Ambassador Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, a Saudi Arabia-based Islamic scholar, to appoint a morally upright and scholarly competent Imam for Oyo town.

The appeal follows a historic visit by the Oyo State Muslim community to the Alaafin’s palace, symbolizing unity and pride among Muslims in South-West Nigeria.

Ambassador Agunbiade praised the Alaafin’s visionary leadership and commended his ability to promote cultural dignity and spiritual legacy.

He recommended Barrister Bilal Akinola Husayn Akeugberu, citing his piety, scholarly competence, and communal spirit as key qualities that make him an ideal candidate for the position.

The proposed candidate is expected to embody Islamic jurisprudence, academic distinction, and peaceful coexistence, serving as a unifying symbol for Muslim societies across Oyo State and Nigeria.

The Alaafin’s decision is eagerly anticipated, with many hoping for a leader who will bridge gaps and foster understanding among diverse communities.
