Network on Police Reform in Nigeria (NOPRIN Foundation) has condemned in the strongest terms the tragic and alleged unwarranted killing of the Divisional Police Officer of Wusagu Division, SP Halliru Liman by a military officer at a military checkpoint.

According to the Programme officer, NOPRIN Foundation, Precious Osinaku, the incident, which occurred in Zamfara State on the 28th of August, 2024, highlights a disturbing escalation of inter-agency violence and underscores the urgent need for heightened collaboration and respect among security forces.

Such actions not only undermine public trust but also jeopardize the safety and security of citizens, which both the police and military have sworn to protect.

NOPRIN Foundation therefore called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urges swift disciplinary action against those responsible for this violent act.

We remind all security agencies of their duty to uphold the rule of law and to protect the lives of all Nigerians without prejudice.

This unfortunate incident should serve as a catalyst for strengthened inter-agency cooperation and adherence to professional standards.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of late SP Halliru and colleagues at the Nigeria Police Force.
