The Senior Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Okebujeun, Morogbo, Agbara, Lagos, Evangelist Israel Akinwaju, has raised concerns over what he described as spiritual decay in the body of Christ, alleging that the quest for fame and popularity has led some ministers to seek power outside God.

Akinwaju made the remarks while preaching at the church on Sunday, where he urged Christians, particularly ministers of the gospel, to exercise patience and wait on God rather than resort to alternative spiritual powers in pursuit of recognition and success.

According to him, only about 10 per cent of ministers who have attained fame and popularity waited on God for their elevation, while the majority, he alleged, were unwilling to wait for God’s manifestation in their lives.

He further claimed that some ministers had turned to the devil in their quest for fame and stardom, including personalities widely admired and revered by their followers.

The cleric stressed that Christians must remain steadfast in their faith and resist the temptation to seek shortcuts to success, insisting that genuine spiritual growth requires patience, trust and dependence on God.

Sharing a personal testimony to illustrate his message, Akinwaju recounted how he became paralysed and spent months praying for divine intervention without experiencing an immediate recovery.

He said that despite the prolonged period of prayer, he remained hopeful until one day when he woke up and discovered that the paralysis had disappeared, and he was able to walk again.

Drawing lessons from the experience, the pastor urged believers not to lose faith when answers to their prayers appear delayed.

“I want Christians to always wait upon the Lord patiently and stop looking for alternatives. We should have faith and trust in the Lord because He can do all things,” he said.

Akinwaju maintained that Christians should remain committed to God even in difficult circumstances, noting that the apparent delay in receiving answers to prayers should not compel believers to abandon their faith.

He encouraged the congregation to cultivate patience, steadfastness and unwavering confidence in God’s ability to intervene in their lives.

The pastor’s message centred on the importance of waiting on God, maintaining spiritual integrity and avoiding the pursuit of fame through questionable means.
