Adebamiwa joins ISMDS Governing Council, pledges expertise in media, communication

Managing Editor of  Newspot Nigeria, Abidemi Adebamiwa, has formally accepted his nomination to serve as a Member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Sports Management & Development Studies (ISMDS).

Adebamiwa conveyed his acceptance in a letter dated September 2026, following his nomination by the Institute.

He expressed appreciation to the Board of Trustees, Management and members of ISMDS for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as an honour.

According to him, he would bring his experience in journalism, media management, strategic communication, peacebuilding and public engagement to the work of the Governing Council.

He specifically expressed his readiness to contribute to policy formulation, institutional development, sports communication and the advancement of professional sports management in Nigeria and across Africa.

“I am honoured by the confidence the Board of Trustees, Management and membership of the Institute have placed in me. I am pleased to accept the nomination to serve on the Governing Council formally,” Adebamiwa stated.

The appointment comes as ISMDS continues to position itself as a professional institution dedicated to the development of sports management and related disciplines.

The Institute is the first of its kind in Africa and the third globally, alongside the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), United Kingdom, and the International Institute of Sports Management (IISM), India.

Adebamiwa also acknowledged the Institute’s separate invitation for him to become a Fellow of ISMDS and the request for support towards the National Conference and Induction Ceremony scheduled for November 14, 2026.

He appreciated the invitation and indicated that he would consider the Fellowship and conference-support arrangements separately.

He further expressed his commitment to working with the leadership and members of ISMDS to advance the Institute’s mission and contribute to the professionalisation and development of sports management.

The ISMDS National Conference and Induction Ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the LCCI Conference and Exhibition Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
