2027: Prophet Ogon foresees Ekere returning as Akwa Ibom Governor

Tony Okoh, Uyo
A prophet in Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Paddy Ogon, has predicted that former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Obong Nsima Ekere, will emerge as the governor of the state in 2027.
Ogon prediction in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, during an interaction with journalists on what he described as divine revelations concerning the political future of the state and the former NDDC boss.
According to the prophet, the revelation that Ekere would become governor was given to him several years ago and would eventually come to pass at what he described as God’s appointed time.
It would be recalled that Ekere contested the Akwa Ibom governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 but lost to Udom Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Emmanuel completed his tenure in 2023 and handed over to the incumbent governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
Ekere, who subsequently returned to private life, is currently not among the prominent aspirants publicly jostling for the governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
However, Ogon insisted that Ekere’s current absence from the governorship race did not invalidate his prophecy, saying a major political development could create an opportunity for the former NDDC boss to return to the contest.
The prophet said there would be a vacancy within the ruling political structure in the state, leading to the need for a replacement candidate, and that Ekere would emerge as the preferred option.
Ogon declared, “Nsima Ekere will soon be enthroned as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.”
He further stated: “God’s word that Nsima Ekere will be governor of Akwa Ibom State will soon come to pass.”
According to him, “A vacancy shall occur in the Akwa Ibom ruling party, and there will be a need for replacement of candidates in the major political parties.
“Then Nsima Ekere would be the available option.
“At God’s own appointed time under the sun, Nsima Ekere shall be the replacement candidate in Akwa Ibom State.
“He shall be nominated by the party and shall be enthroned as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.”
Ogon cited several biblical passages, including Daniel chapters 7, 8, 11 and 12, Matthew 24:1 and Revelation 13, which he said provided the scriptural basis for his revelations.
The prophet also made broader claims concerning what he described as an “end time” prophecy, referring to biblical passages about a beast that exercised dominion and a kingdom whose authority would eventually be taken away and given to the people of the saints of the Most High God.
Ogon said the fulfilment of the biblical prophecies on earth constituted what Scripture describes as the “end time” or “end of the world” occurrence.
He further linked the prophecy to what he described as the second coming of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead, citing Matthew 24, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 and Romans 8.
According to him, the message is directed not only at the Church but also at Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and the wider world.
He said the biblical concept of the manifestation of the sons of God, which Christians have long awaited, had been wrongly interpreted by some as referring solely to the “rapture” and removal of the Church from the earth.
The prediction concerning Ekere comes against the backdrop of growing political activity ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State, although Ekere has not publicly emerged as a declared candidate in the race.
